JUST read,
The Lion and The Lamb
by Jonathan Harlen
It is very thin, only 85 pages.
I bought it at a mall for RM2 while I was waiting for somebody.
My favourite line is,
’I promise you, by the flowers growing on your grandmother’s grave, that I would never use this gun to harm anyone’
It’s cool, ain’t it?
We normally say ‘cross my heart & hope to die’,
or ‘I swear to God’,
or the very Cina 对天发誓 & 我做不到我就不姓insert surname
I think, promising others by the flowers growing on their grandmother’s grave just sounds so much gentle, poetic, and pretty!
The book is about a boy’s fight against prejudice,
& one man’s fight against his own past.
It won The Children’s Book Council Notable Australian Children’s Book.
So, yep, I promise by the flowers growing on your grandmother’s grave, that I will try to be a more interesting blogger (:
