Ice Kacang Puppy Love
(中文:初恋红豆冰)

I’ve got special screening invites.
So M and I went TCM to watch the chilly late show of this local production directed by Aniu.

The movie tells a moving story of a group of children in a small kampung fighting with each other, falling in love with one another and growing up together.

The reason I liked it so much was cause,

  • It is very humorous (I don’t want to spoil the fun!)
But seriously, the cinema was roaring with laughter.
At one point, all the audience clapped their hands, it was just too good.

  • It is very touching
About hardships & dreams in this country that we can understand because we know. Need not ask, M cried ‘like shit’ (as she calls it)

  • It is very realistic
Not a fairytale, but not a tragic end either.
    It truly portrays how real life is, and how real life works;
which is nor good or bad, just as it is with a lil taste of sorrow.

  • It is very original
Not a cheap movie trying to imitate foreign films.
It was neither cliché or stereotype, it was just as it is, like a bowl of Malaysia’s veryIce Kacang

  • It is very Malaysian
Watching the scenes unfolding was like watching part of my life in it, because I can relate to it so well. It was about you and me and all of us.

M and I agree that it was a great film and we’ve decide to bring all our friends to watch it soon. It was a lot more than our expectations and we should support local production. It is a definite worth watch & must watch. Highly recommended.

I rate it 7.5/10

ps. I want to tell you how good it is but I don’t want to be a spoiler. Watch it!
