Myths and Facts, how well do you know add math?

I had my add math paper today, it was an interesting day with interesting happenings. Add math just make people’s tongue wag, after listening for a full day on what people have to say about add math, I came up with this:

Myths and Facts; Dos and Don’ts of Additional Mathematics.

Scenario:

Ka Poh: Eh, where’s the OMR paper?

Friend: We’re having paper 1

Ka Poh: Yeahlahh, so where’s the OMR paper? You know? That sheet where we shade answers?

Friend: It’s subjective Ka Poh…

Ka Poh: WHAT?! BUT I THOUGHT IT’S PAPER 1

Friend: There’s no objective for add math.

Fact: Add math paper 1 is a subjective paper.
- don’t let these words fool you, although it’s called PAPER1, it doesn’t have to be in objective.

Do: Bring your own OMR paper if you insist

Scenario:

Briana: Aiyoh Sze Ling, study so hard for what?

Friend: Why you ask Sze Ling not to study? Don’t influence her can or not?

Briana: She didn’t come to school yesterday, she doesn’t have an average.

Friend: bfeusmbfkesthhfkeg 兄弟们,咱们打她!

Fact: Having no average causes public anger

Do: Attend all your exams

Scenario:

Question: Sn = 2n (n + 3)
What is T1?

2n (n + 3) = (n/2)[ 2a+ (n-1)d ]

… move unknowns here … move unknown there …

OMGKNNCCB, got so many unknowns how to find?!!!

Fact: S1 = T1, because the sum of the first term equals to the first term itself.

Do: Sometimes, you just got to think a lil less complicated

Scenario:

Thought while doing the front few pages-
Wahhh, easy, do ah do ah do ah!

Thought while doing the last few pages-
*blank blank blank*

Fact: The back questions don’t always behave like the front questions. Just like students sitting in front of the calss and back of the class.

Do: start with
the back questions first, cause they are harder. No, start with the front questions first or you won’t have enough time. No, start with the back questions first, if you don’t even know how to do the first few questions you’ll be so devastated you won’t feel like doing the back ones. No, start with the back questions first, cause you tackle the harder and the you smooth sail with the easier ones. No, start from the middle, no conflict. No, it’s always good to start from the front to get you warmed up.

You know what?!! Don’t get ME started.

Scenario:

Joanna: I believe I can get 72 marks!

Briana: Ambitious (; Why you so weird, 3 more marks then can get A1, aim 75 lahh.

Joanna: O.o

Briana: What?!

Joanna: Our paper 1 and paper 2 in total is 180, I need to get 72 marks, if you convert it back to 100%, it’s a 40%, that’s the passing grade.

Fact: Yes, in order to pass add math, you’ll need to score 72 marks, in order to get A1 however, you’ll need to score 135 marks

Conclusion:
Today’s add math was ok for me, considering I didn’t prepare at all (had to do 5 PEKA in one day yesterday, because I NEVER pass up any before). But in my opinion, the front questions were TOO EASY, and the back questions were TOO HARD.

When I did it in order, it feels like someone feeding me prunes, then out of no where, that someone just forced a whole durian down my fragile throat trying to gag me. Later when I juggled back and forth, it feels like the worst period mood swings I ever had.
