I’ve decided on my return. Or in better words, I’ve gotten my brand new Taiwanese laptop, hot in red and named Chuck. I know, makes you wanna pucker up and smooch him.
So here I am, obediently tied to my chair gathering my thoughts, arranging all that had happened according to timeline. The first thing I did when I first arrived at Taiwan was going to Tai Zhong taking the 高铁 which takes an amazing speed of 300km/h.
Was there to visit my cousin B and together with her family we went to the famous Sun Moon Lake 日月潭
Sun Moon Lake was enormous. Mesmerizing not in a glossed up Barbie kind of strut, but the kind of beautiful that’s like the wall flower that overflows with aura back in a corner. The water has a dark shade close to black, the air, smooth and lung chilling. It was nice to be able to raise my head and count the dragonflies up above all the time.
We were in luck because the cable cars were the new thing, romantic it was to sit in a box of glass listening to rain drops pit-a-pat in a backdrop of misty mountains and deep waters, like those found in forgotten tales or legends or so.
This my friend, is a Honey Peach 水蜜桃 Big, round, soft and juicy (please don’t start hearing it wrong) The size of my knuckle if you have seen it before and tastes great. Refreshing with an aloof sweetness. Trust me, once you’ve taken a bite of this, you really wouldn’t mind being the second Snow White and sleep forever with dreams of its taste. It’s my favourite fruit at the moment! :L)
I lost track of time and didn’t take many photos but there was a restaurant in Tai Zhong City that I have to mention called 耕读园 The place had small flowing streams and a huge pond, with stepping stones leading to huts above water. I could spend the whole day there with it’s comfy pillows, hot tea and delicate pastries, appetizers. The best thing was looking out that small wooden window, you could see all the amazing Koi fish in the pond. There were Koi fishes as long as my arms I swear. With a sprinkling hand of fish feeds and they’ll swarm to your side, one on top of another with gobbling mouths and splashing waters.
There’s a place in Tai Zhong called 后丰 where there used to be a long ancient railway track, it was unused and left there in silence until it recently became a 30km bicycle track. It was absolutely gorgeous, can you imagine? You on a bike, going down a long winding road in red, with rows of trees on both your left and right, their shadows dancing mysteriously on your body. Feeling the warmth of the noonday sun on your skin and the fast paced wind on your face.
The old train carriage. I absolutely had the best of time at Tai Zhong although my trip was short. I’m planning to visit cousin B during Winter Holiday, and maybe by then I’ll have more to say about Tai Zhong! (:
