Be silent and try to listen

Crowded streets, never ending to-dos and buzzing media, we are surrounded by noise, noise and more noise in this big city. For us today, it seems like the hardest task is to be silent and to listen.

Be silent, Listen to yourself.
Your heart whispers softly, so have you lowered your volume to hear it? People lost, confuse and uncertain. That could be true, but more often people are blinded caught up in a whirlpool of events. Today, try to

  • take time eating your breakfast without gobbling down the food with one eye on your blackberry and the other on your proposal
  • go for a stroll in the park, alone & without your Ipod (I’m not kidding)
  • stop thinking during your shower, sing instead!

Be silent, Listen to others.
They say a good listener is a silent flatterer. Do you listen in order to understand, or do you listen in order to reply? While journeying to physio centre twice daily, my mum  shared with me stories of her childhood (yes, we can agree it is hard imagining our parents being young), her career and her backpacking days. Surprisingly, those 2 hours listening to her became the most joyous moment of my day. Today, try to

  • learn something new about your family members!
  • bring your friend out for coffee and talk about something else than gossip
  • speak to someone you’ve encounter problems with and listen to what he has to say

Before I bid you bye, here’s what Winnie the Pooh said,
’If the person you are talking to doesn’t seem to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear’.

So do you have fluff in your ear?

ps. Comment, I like listening to what you have to say. (& I did not say that just to prove that I’m not a hypocrite hahaha :)
