During the holidays, i started reading the book The secret, that oh-so-year-2008 thing. It states that the secret is actually the law of attraction, and whatever you think, as long as you think about it often enough and focus on it, it will happen to you.
I find that some of the things stated in the book is fairly true, but I think the book is poorly convincing. To me, just going around telling people what you think is what you get without a concrete explanation sounds not only very abstract, it is also hard for the readers to imagine the message behind the book.
After reading the book, this is my own sort of summary.
What we are where we are now (results) is a product of what we did (action).
What we did before (action) is manipulated by what we decided to do (thoughts).
Can you see? It all begins with a thought. a thing we think with our *(whether you have it or not) brain. An idea, a judgment, a decision.
So, IT IS TRUE that your thought DECIDES EVEYTHING.
But often, we don’t realize we can choose what we think. We have the power to consciously choose our thoughts.
Get it?
We can start to focus and think about CERTAIN things instead of letting our mind wander and think of random things all in a cycle!
If we can do that in a long-term, maybe every night before you sleep? (the book says we have 60,000 thoughts a day so we cant correct ourselves or focus on something all the time), we’ll shift our actions in new directions and therefore, obtain new results!
So now I’m starting small (I find it focusing on one thing is too hard for me) everyday I focus on positive things, I think about happy things, and really, wow, I am feeling a happy self already.
And Einstein once said “Imagination is more important than knowledge”, you should really try shaping your thoughts too!
Because we are what we think, our thoughts become things.
